PURPLE—Mrs Jane Purple, 78, 44 Fellows St. Unadllla, died at 9:30 pm Wednesday at her home of a heart attack after a short illness. She is survived by a daughter Mrs Oliver W Haire (Ed. Jane Anne Purple), Unadllla: three sons, Harry E Purple, Redding, Cal., Robert H Purple, Syracuse and George F. Purple, Dover, Ohio; seven grandchildren; also one great-grandchild.
She was born April 11 1885, in Binghamton, the daughter of Herbert and Katherine (Carrig) Houghtaling. She married Edward B Purple, July 10, 1905 In Binghamton. She had lived for the past 11 years in Unadllla but had spent most of her life in Binghamton. She was a member of the Unadllla Women's Club. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Unadllla. The Rev William A Chamberlain, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Forest Cemetery in Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the Joyce Funeral Home, Unadilla, this evening from 7 to 9. Friends wishing may make donations to St. Matthew's Episcopil Church Memorial Fund in Unadilla.
Ed. Jane's husband, Edward Brockway Purple, died in Unadilla, 22 Mar 1962, and was also buried in Spring Forest Cemetery.
