J.W. Rich Dies of Heart Failure

Funeral rites for James William Rich, who lived southwest of Quail, were held Monday afternoon, Nov. 22, from the Methodist Church in Memphis, with Rev. Gren W. Carter in charge.

Mr. Rich died suddenly from heart failure Sunday morning about 9:30. At the time he was on the way to a neighbor's hours.

After he had been away from home longer than was expected, his wife and a neighbor began a search for him, finding his body about a mile from his home.

He had lived in this community for twelve years, and had made many friends during the time.

Mr. Rich was born May 3, 1878, and at the time of his death was fifty-nine years, six months and eighteen days of age at the time of his death. His native state was Mississippi.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. J.W. Rich; three sons and one daughter, James Rich, Wayne Rich, W.P. Rich, and Alta Mae Rich, all of whom live near Memphis; three brothers and four sisters, Frank Rich of Roxton, Tom Rich of Cooper, George Rich of Memphis, Mrs. Mattie McAbee of Memphis, Mrs. Lena Maroney of Childress, Mrs. Artie Neighbors of Memphis, and Mrs. Mae King of Paris.

Pall bearers for the funeral were nephews of Mr. Rich, Gins McAbee, Carlton McAbee, Lorse Rich, Wesley Maroney, Melvin Neighbors and Alden Neighbors.

Flower girls were nieces, Vergie Maroney, Lula Maroney, Marie Rich, Neva Rich, Tommie McAbee, Eva Lou Shepherd, Polly Frashier, and Alva Misso.

Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery with the Wellington Funeral Home in charge.
