Katheriene (Butts) Nix age 83, a resident of Gulf Shores, AL passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Born July 31, 1926 in Birmingham, AL where she attended Woodlawn High School and later attended Mobile College. One of her greatest achievements was that she won an art contest in 1973 and received a cash award and certificate from Governor George Wallace. She and her husband owned K&B Art Studio in Oneonta, AL from 1979-1983 where she taught art and won many art ribbons. Katheriene spent the last several years as a resident of Gulf Shores, AL. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gulf Shores. Mrs Nix is preceded in death by her mother, Leola Williamson; her father, Claude R. Butts; one identical twin sister, Loriene Rice. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Archie Wayman Nix of Gulf Shores; children, Mary Katheryn Gulsby (Rudy) of Atmore, Barbara Jo Lancaster (Russell) of Foley, Patricia Dunn (David) of Pelham, and Michael Wayne Nix of Gulf Shores; Sister, Shirley Heep (Dawan) of Waynesboro, MS; brother-in-law, James Rice of Birmingham; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, January 22, 2010 from 6-8:00 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm from The Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley with Dr. Kenneth W. Fields officiating.
