Charles B. Hoover of Newton Hamilton died Saturday, August 5, 1972 at 1:40 pm at the Lewistown Hospital following an extended illness. He had been a patient in the hospital for 10 days. He was 86. He was born on June 4, 1886 at Hoover's Island, Northumberland County, a son of Jeremiah and May (Bardner) Hoover. He was united in marriage in 1927 to Martha LaRue Myers and she preceded him in death in June, 1956. He is survived by two children: Howard J. Hoover and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Miller both of Newton Hamilton. Also surviving are two sons by a former marriage, Dale Hoover, of Camp Hill and Edwin Hoover of Dalmatia, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Enda Malone, Sunbury. A son, Charles, preceded him in death in 1956. Five brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. He was a member of the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church and the Victory Men's bible class. He was a well driller for many years and prior to that time operated the Elite Cafe In Sunbury. He had been a resident of this area for 41 years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clark funeral home in Mount Union. The Rev. Phillp May will officiate and interment will be made in the Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock and from 9 am until the hour for the service.
