Leon was the son of Pierre Francois Marechal and Marie Louise Hortiz. He was baptized on Oct 9, 1803 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, in Florissant, St. Louis County, Missouri. His godparents were Pierre de Serre & Suzanne Martin. He married Adeline Brisette on Feb 9, 1869 In St. Louis Missouri. They were the parents of six children, Leon, Joseph, George, Laura, Charles and Ferdinand. He was a farmer in rural Florissant, St. Louis county for many years.
He died of arterial sclerosis.
