Samuel married Margaret Brown(1760-1834 in Allegheny County, Pa. They adopted: Jean Coats /Jane Koots(1794-1877). Samuel and Margaret also adopted her nephew George Brown(1801-1842), son of Margaret's brother William Brown and Mary McCamish Brown. Jane/Jean would later marry George Brown.
Adopted daughter is listed as Jean Coats in Samuel Barber's will probate date 31 May 1820.
Samuel died in Turtle Creek and is is laid to rest next to his wife Margaret in Beulah Presbyterian Churchyard, Churchill Borough, Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
