Funeral services were attended Monday with interment in cemetery at Conewango
Dana W. Gardner, a man well known about Conewango and vicinity, died Thursday afternoon, February 27, at W.C.A. Hospital in Jamestown where he had been taken two days earlier suffering from lobar pneumonia, which disease caused death.
Deceased was 81 years of age, having been born in Conewango in 1855. Following the death of his nephew, Edwin Jenks of Conewango, Mr. Gardner had lived with a grand nephew, Cary Jenks in the Conewango road. Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. Helen Barhite, Buffalo; Mrs. Jessie Hermance, Eden; Mrs. E. W. Seager, Randolph; two nephews, Emmons K. Ellsworth, Washington, D.C.; Dan Gardner, East Orange, N. J. There are also several grand nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hoitink funeral home in Main Street with Rev. E. M. Chapman of Grace Church officiating. Those acting as bearers were E. S. Seager, Cary Jenks, E. K. Ellsworth, Frank Spear. Interment was made in Conewango cemetery.
Relatives attending from away were E. K. Ellsworth, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Helen Barhite, Buffalo; Mrs. Harold Rhodes, Clear Creek; Mrs. Lyle Richardson and DeForest Hall, Cherry Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spear, Olean; George Carr, Salamanca.
