Wife of Dr John Maxwell and mother of James McKay Maxwell, Elizabeth Maxwell Champion and Ann Maxwell Baker. Operated several fashionable boarding houses in Savannah after her husband's death, most notably the house now known as the Owens-Thomas House. The Marquis de Lafayette boarded with her when he visited Savannah in March 1825. She died at her home on Orleans Square,Savannah.
