FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, May 21, 1956 - Elbert S. Acuff, retired fishing guide, died Saturday night. He moved to this area at the age of 11 and was a guide for Thomas A. Edison, the Ringling Brothers and the Shaeffer Pen Co. He was a member of the Central Methodist Church, American Legion and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Una Acuff; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Charles Chernin, Fort Myers; Mrs. Ann Marie Hicks, Rapid City, SD; Mrs. Coleen Huddleston, Chattanooga, TN; four brothers, Rupert Acuff of Estero, Roy Acuff of Jacksonville, Eustice Acuff of Fort Myers, Arthur Acuff of California and seven grandchildren.
