Funeral services were held at Old Silver Creek Baptist church six miles from this place for Tom Rogers, aged 46, life-long resident of Lawrence county, who died in a Jackson hospital following an operation there. He was taken to Jackson for medical aid after a serious illness of only a few days.
Rev. D. O. Horne of this place, pastor of the Monticello Baptist church had charge of the services which were largely attended by relatives and friends.
Interment took place in the church cemetery beside the mother of the deceased who preceded him to the grave a few years ago. Immediate survivors are his wife, who was Miss May Parkman, of this county; four daughter, Misses Ruby Lee, Hilda Mae, Alberta and Mildred Rogers and one son, Jack; three sisters, Mrs. J. O. Burkett and Miss Myrtle Rogers of Monticello and Mrs. M. C. Armstrong of Jayess; eight brothers, Knox, Lee, and Jim of Arm; Pete of Bassfield; Bert, Ben, John and Shelby of Monticello, and his father, C. W. Rogers of McComb. The deceased made his home about three miles from Monticello.
