Mrs. Joseph Wolgamot died at her home in this city Thursday morning, Sept. 15, of internal cancer.
Atha Delilah Buckmaster was born May 6, 1831 in Wayne County, Ohio. She married Joseph Wolgamot on March 23, 1850. In 1855, they came to Buchanan County and settled on what is now the Oddeman farm in Fairbank Township, where they lived until they moved into town of Fairbank.
Seven children were born to this couple: Albin, Webster City; Mrs. Nancy McGranahan, of Sheldon; Clinton, Hazleton; Jasper, John, Sheridan, and Mrs. Eva Higbee, who reside here. Her children were all present at her funeral, which was held Friday afternoon at the M. E. Church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Wyrick, who preached a very comforting sermon from the words "Lead me to the rock that is higher than I". The funeral was one of the largest ever held here, the church being too small to hold all who came to pay the last tribute of respect to one they had learned to love and respect during her years of residence among them. Loving hands did all they could during her months of sickness to soothe her way, as she had so often done for her friends in time of trouble.
Her memory will long be cherished for the good she has done. Besides her children, she leaves her husband and four sisters to mourn her death.
