Frances Daniels Reed, 102, of Burlington died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington. Born August 21, 1903 in Blandinsville, Illinois, she was the daughter of George Thomas and Pearle Alta Voorhees Daniels. On August 3, 1924 she married Brooks Reed in Burlington. He died July 29, 1966.

Mrs. Reed was a graduate of Blandinsville High School and Lombard College (now known as Knox College) in Galesburg, Illinois. Prior to her marriage she was a schoolteacher. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since 1936, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, and Good Neighbors Club. She was a 50 plus years member of White Shrine, E.C. Blackmar Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, T.T.T. Society, Delta Zeta Sorority and Burlington Golf Club. She was an avid bridge player.

Survivors include her son, George (Mary) Reed of Burlington; two grandsons, Bryan (Kathryn) Reed and Tom (Elizabeth) Reed; and four great grandchildren, Brent, Brooke, David, and Kelly. Her husband; one daughter, Georgiana Reed; and parents preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
