Mrs. Rachel Encke died at 11:35 pm Friday at her daughters home, three miles southeast of Decatur. Mrs.Encke was one of the old settlers of the county, having come here in 1851. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1830 and on Oct. 15 of this year she would have been eighty one years of age.
On May 12, 1850, she married John J.cook. He died in 1854 and she soon married John J. Encke.She is survived by F.M.Cook of Atlanta, Mo, Mrs.R.E.Albeitz and Mrs.Barbara R.Richter of Decatur.
The funeral will be held at the home southeast of Decatur at 2:30 pm Sunday.Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
