George Lester Morton, 67, of 924 Cedar, died Aug. 14 in an area hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial was in Woodland Cemetery.

Mr. Morton was born in Minter on Sept. 13, 1912, son of George Washington Morton and Florence Gibson Morton.

He attended Ward Chapel School.

He married Myrtle Ova Stailey on Dec. 24, 1938; she preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1970.

He married Mrs. May Wright on July 12, 1971.

Mr. Morton moved to Paris from Woodland in 1959 and was a longtime employee of Babcock and Wilcox, retiring in 1973.

He was a member of the North Paris Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; six children, two brothers, a sister, step-children, 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
