80 - 100 loggers were returning to the logging camp from the logging operations on two open air rail cars during a storm. A fairly large tree fell in the wind, hitting one of the rail cars. 8 guys were killed outright and two to three others died later from injuries sustained. The bodies of Carl and Axel Dahleen were sent to Portland for burial. Axel is buried with his brother and sister-in-law at the Rose City Cemetery.
