A collision between an automobile and a pickup truck in Andrews killed three persons on Wednesday, January 26, 1955.
George Walter Payne, 18, and Reid Irby Saxon, 19, died soon after arrival at Georgetown County Memorial Hospital. Sollie Lambert, 65, died at the hospital later.
Jesse Flowers of Andrews was driving the car in which Payne and Saxon were passengers. Mr. Lambert was driving the truck.
Mr. Lambert was born August 21, 1889, in the Sampit section of Georgetown County, a son of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Lambert and Frances Hartley Lambert. He was a farmer and later a warden for the South Carolina Forestry Commission.
He was survived by his widow, Mrs. Ellen Lambert Lambert; six daughters, Mrs. Willard (Viola) Sanders of Williston, NC, Mrs. Walter (Sarah Caroline) Chavis, Mrs. Lawrence (Mady) Johnson, and Mrs. Ralph Abbes (Ludie) Baz Jr., all of Georgetown, Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Wall of Rome, GA, and Mrs. John Doward (Myrtle) Ethridge of Andrews; five sons, Solomon Lambert, Jack Lambert, Fields Lambert, Snooks Lambert, and Griffen Lambert, all of Georgetown; three brothers, Jerimiah Lambert of Hemingway, Sam Lambert of Laurinburg, NC, and Daniel Lambert of Mullins.; and a half sister, Lila Lambert Lambert of Andrews.
The funeral was Saturday, January 29, 1955, at the graveside in Sampit Methodist Cemtery. The Rev. O. B. Boyd, ther Rev. Lacey Drew, the Rev. Mr. Hunter, and the Rev. Mr. Snders officiated.
Burial was directed by Mayer Funeral Home.
