Hugh Clatterbuck, 36, of 313 Henry street northeast, died this morning in Georgetown University Hospital from injuries sustained when the car in which he was riding skidded on the Lee Highway in Falls Church, Va., hit a rock wall and overturned, pinning Clatterbuckand two companions under the wreckage. His son Lard, 8, was killed April 5 when he leaped from the rear of a truck in the 700 block of G street northeast and ran into the path of a second truck approaching from an opposite direction. When the accident occurred last night Mr. and Mrs. Clatterbuckwere returning from Warrenton, Va., where they had been to visit the boy's grave. William Joseph Rodgers, 40, of Baltimore, the driver of the automobile containing Mr. and Mrs. Clatterbuck, is in critical condition in Georgetown University Hospital suffering from skull fractures, head cuts, shock and possible internal injuries. An operation was performed early today on his skull. Woman Escapes Injury. Mrs. Hazel Clatterbuck, who was seated between the two men in the coupe, escaped serious injury. She was treated at the hospital for minor cuts and bruises. The accident occurred shortly before midnight. Town Deputy A.P. Shumate of Falls Church and Fairfax County Traffic Officer Carl McIntosh rushed to the scene on hearing Mrs. Clatterbuck's cries and with assistance from passing motorists pulled her from the wreckage. They had to upturn the car to extricate the two men, both of whom were unconscious. Clatterbuck regained consciousness at the hospital for a few moments before he died. Mayor L.P. Daniel of Falls Church supervised the removal of the car and the reopening of the highway to traffic while the officers took the injured to the hospital.
