"OBITUARY"

SMITH Lillie (Edith) "Granny" Smith, of Newcastle, OK, died Nov. 9, 2005. Born Dec. 3, 1912 in Indianapolis, OK to James Elias and Jennie Bowels Sharum. Married the late Gervis William Smith USMM Sep. 28, 1929. Survived by daughter Wanda Jo Zwiefelhofer and husband Robert of Choctaw, OK, son Howard Lloyd Smith and wife Faye serving a mission in Bakersfi4eld, CA and daughter Margie Lou Salazar and husband Jesus (Jesse) of Newcastle, OK. 20 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren and 63 great great grandchildren. A faithful member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she dedicated her life to her family genealogy. She served in her church as a Teacher, Secretary of the Central States Mission, a Certified Genealogist co-authoring the book "The Family of Wilson Salmon" and many other church related callings. During World War II served our Country working for Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Alameda, CA at the Alameda Shipyard in the construction of many Admiral ships including the decorated Admiral R. E. Coontz. In the early fifties owned and operated a cafe and services station in Capitol Hill, OK, was a County Court Clerk Deputy at the Oklahoma County Court House for 10 years and retired as a Private Nurse at the age of 70. She was a member of the Oklahoma Historical Society and Who's Who in Greater OKC 1965. A beautiful person who brought happiness to everyone in her life and will be missed dearly. Services Mon Nov. 14, 2:00 pm at The Churchy Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, OKC Second Ward, 2440 SW 55th St., OKC, OK. Interment Sunny Lane Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th St., Del City, OK 73115.
