Ronald Dowty, age 75, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home, in Lincoln, Missouri. He was born on July 1, 1934, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of Melvin and Georgia (Ogan) Dowty.

He grew up and attended school in Pittsburg, Kansas. On August 27, 1953, he was united in marriage, in Pittsburg, Kansas to Margaret Guston, whom preceded him in death on September 2, 1964. Unto this union five children were born, Debra, Melvin, Kenneth, Thomas and Rodney. On November 2, 1968, he was united in marriage to Joan France, in Bloomington, Illinois. Unto this union three children were born; Paula, John and James.

He was employed as a Bricklayer for Local #18 of Kansas City, Kansas, a Driver & Salesman for Crawford Distributing, the Bridge and Road Crew for Miami County, Kansas and for the past five years he was the Greeter at the Warsaw Wal-Mart.

He was a member of the Elk's Lodge of Warsaw, Missouri, a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge of Paola, Kansas, an associate member of the American Legion Post of Warsaw, Missouri and the VFW of Paola, Kansas as well as the Bricklayers Local #18 of Kansas City, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Dowty, one brother, Dale Dowty, a sister, Francis McGongale, and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife Joan, of the home, two daughters, Debra Meisinger, and her husband Lynn, of Fontana, Kansas and Paula Ferrenburg, and her husband Thomas, of St. Helen's, Oregon, six sons; Melvin Dowty, and his wife Teresa, of Altamonte, Kansas, Kenneth Dowty, of Topeka, Kansas, Thomas Ryan, and his wife Shawna, of Lamar, Missouri, Rodney Swan, and his wife Crystal, of the State of Louisiana, John Dowty, and his wife Patty, of LaCygne, Kansas and James Dowty, and his wife Sarah, of Walsh, Colorado, three sisters; Louise Martin, and her husband Frank, of the State of Florida, Glenna Pentola, of Pittsburgh, Kansas and Katherine Shippy, of Kansas City, Missouri, one brother, Dean Dowty, and his wife Barbara, of Windsor, Missouri, twenty-one grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services for Ronald Dowty will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Warsaw. Graveside Services will be held in the Spring at Oaklawn Cemetery in LaCygne, Kansas. Messages of condolence may be made online at www.reserfuneralhome.com
