George R. Sawaya died, April 6, 1986, at Windsor Estates Nursing Home in Salina. He was born February 19, 1892, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He had been the owner and operator of George's Appliance for 35 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Elks and Eagles.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack D. Sawaya. Survivors included his wife, Olive R.; four sons, George Jr., Emerson D., Norman C., and Buddy; two daughters, Norene Cooke and Ann Scuitte; 14 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
