Anrol "Buddy" Oliver Sawaya was born August 11, 1935, in Salina, Kansas to the late George and Olive (Johnson) Sawaya. He passed away April 5th, 2011, at Durham Regional Hospital, Durham, North Carolina.
Buddy worked in construction and later retired from IBM. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors included his wife of 52 years, Nancy Carpenter Sawaya; a daughter, Cathy Berry and her husband, Steve; two sons, Mike Sawaya and wife, Kate; and George Sawaya and wife, Tammie; two sisters, Norene Schell and husband, Don; Evonne Anne Scuitte and husband, Bob; three brothers, George Sawaya Jr. and wife, Cathy; Emerson Sawaya, and Norman Sawaya and wife, Patricia; and three much loved granddaughters and grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Sawaya.
