Daniel McBain -1929

Daniel John McBain, 79 years of age, for 34 years a farmer of the Bagley community, died at his home south of town on Wednesday, September 25th following an illness of several months.
Mr. McBain was one of the pioneers of this county coming to Bagley in the year 1895. He was born in Glengarry County, Canada, October 19th, 1850. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Carrie Green and two years later they came here and homesteaded on their farm south of town at which place they have made their home ever since.
Surviving Mr. McBain are his wife and seven children: Mrs. Mary C. Benett of Rocky Mountain Hause, Alta, Canada; Mrs. O.G. Olson of Jamestown, North Dakota; James McBain of Pontiac, Michigan; Ben C. McBain of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Mrs. Carl Erickson of Leonard; Angus McBain and Duncan McBain of Bagley. Eleven grandchildren also survive him.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Bagley Congregational Church, Rev. E.M. Robinson officiating and H.C. Peterson funeral director. Pallbearers were old friends of the departed: Jerome Thayer, Lars Halseth, Joe Steindl, Tom Martine, Chas. Wright and William Baker. All of Mr. McBain's children were present at the services with the exception of James of Pontiac, Michigan who was unable to come. The remains were laid to rest at the village cemetery.
Mr. McBain was a highly respected man, industrious and honest, and is mourned by a large number of friends as the attendance to his funeral fully verified.
