RAYMOND F. THIESSEN
Jan. 16, 1926 - Feb. 7, 2010

SALEM - Raymond, 84, went home to be with his Savior on February 7, 2010. He was born in Roscoe, Nebraska on January 16, 1926 to Jacob T. and Elizabeth (Fast) Thiessen. He was the second of ten children. He moved to Dallas, Oregon when he was sixteen years old and attended Beacon Bible School.

He attended Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in Dallas, where he met his wife, CORA WIENSZ. They were married for 58 years.

Raymond retired from the Oregon State Hospital in 1988 after 32 years of service. He worked in their maintenance department.

He loved to go camping and fishing with his family. He made many trips to National Parks in the Western States and Canada. He loved to spend time camping on the Oregon Coast. In May, 2001, he, his wife, and family were able to take Alaska's Inland Passage Cruise. Alaska was a place he always wanted to see. If you asked him if he would like to go to see a big city, he would always say no. He wanted to see more of God's creation.

Raymond passed away after a tractor accident, doing what he loved to do, working on ten acres where he lived since 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Cora; three daughters, Janet (Steve) Pitman of Salem, Connie (John) Fahlstrom of Prineville, Oregon, and Monica (Greg) Frye of Salem; grandchildren, Carl, Joe, and Axel Fahlstrom, Lucas and Andrew Pitman, Bryan and Marissa Frye; brothers, Levi Thiessen of Dallas, Marvin Thiessen of Reedley, California, Allen Thiessen of Woodburn; and sisters, Delores Smith of Visalia, California, Helen Berg of Dallas, Betty Jondahl of Portland, and Norma Balbo of Medford.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly Thiessen; parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Thiessen; brother, Harry Thiessen; and sister, Ruth Eldredge.
