HENRIETTA VAN PELT LOGAN RIXON
AGE: 91 BRICK
Henrietta VanPelt Logan Rixon, 91, of Brick, and formerly from Roselle Park and Mendham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at her home. Henrietta was born in Elizabeth. Mrs. Rixon graduated from Thomas Edison Vocational and Technical High School in 1962 as a licensed practical nurse and was employed at Elizabeth General Hospital. She was a member of Brick Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Women's Association and was previously a member of Greystone Church in Elizabeth, where she was a Sunday Social teacher, youth leader and member of the Woman's Association. In addition, Henrietta was an Ordained Elder and Deacon of the United Presbyterian Church. She was also a former member of Townley Church in Union. She served the community as an active member of the PTA, Department of Civil Defense and the Roselle Park Republican Club. She also served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and a Republican Committeewoman. Henrietta was a member and Fellow of the Company of Military Historians, a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution and Lambs Artillery. She was an avid Revolutionary war re-enactor and gave programs in schools throughout New Jersey on colonial life during Revolutionary War times and was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Atlas Chapter.

She was predeceased by husbands, Thomas Logan and Joseph Rixon. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Doggart Volper of Point Pleasant and her son, Thomas Logan and his wife Carol of Brick; six grandchildren, Wendy Doggart Ylagan of The Woodlands, Texas, Christopher Doggart of Brick, Laura Volper and Alexandra Volper of Point Pleasant, Thomas Logan Jr. of Brick, and Robert Logan of Brick. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Sidney and Shane Ylagan of The Woodlands, Texas.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. The service will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the funeral home, followed by burial at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DebRA of America, 16 East 41st St., 3rd Fl., NY, NY 10017.
