"MRS. LYDIA ROCKEMANN DIED LAST FRIDAY-Was Pioneer Resident of Benton Precinct-Had Lived in that Part of the County for Many years where she had become widely acquainted and was hightly regarded." A very lengthly obituary was located in a local newspaper with the heading above.
Lydia was a resident of Benton County for 45 years.She was widely known and was held in the highest esteem. Her death being caused by diabetes.
Five children preceded Lydia in death: Lydia ChristinaSophie Beckmann, Carolina Maria, Heinrich Christian Friedrich Wilhelm, Carolina Sophie Maria Beckmann and George Heinrich Dietrich. Those surviving were 9 children: daughters-Mrs. Annie Eggers, Mrs. John Stutheit, Mrs. Frank Sasse,sons of Ale, Chris, Fred, Will and Louie. Louie was the youngest at the age of 16.
Funeral services were held at the Rockemann family home and the Long Branch Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Geyer.
