Amanda (Donnelly) (Swisher) Daniels was the daughter of Patrick Donnelly and Nancy (Wells) Donnelly from Indiana. Amanda had three known siblings, but there may have been others:
Mary E. Donnelly 1837-
James W. Donnelly 1839-
Thomas Donnelly 1842-

In the 1850 census, the Donnelly family was living in District 97 of Rush County, Indiana. They apparently moved to Missouri within the next 17 years, as Amanda was married in Adair County, Missouri on December 25, 1867 to Francis M. Swisher (1847-1871). They had two sons: Benjamin Francis Swisher 1869-1940
Cyrus Swisher 1869-

Amanda's husband Francis Swisher died in 1871 at the age of 24. Two years later, on July 20, 1873, Amanda married William Daniels, a widower in the community who had 7 children. William was affectionately known as "Old Bill" Daniels as he had a son named Billy. Old Bill's wife Lucinda (Beets) had died in 1872, leaving him with these 7 children who ranged in age from 13 to 2 years old. Amanda stepped in and helped raise these children:
Elisha "Bunt" Daniels 1859 – 1930
John A. "Ruler" Daniels 1861 – 1952
Mary Ellen Daniels 1862 – 1946
Isaiah Zair Daniels 1864 – 1944
Margaret Jane "Maggie" Daniels 1866 – 1946
William Jefferson "Billy" Daniels 1867 – 1961
Jeremiah M. "Jerry" Daniels 1870 – 1939

Amanda and Bill had 8 children of their own:
Benjamin S. Daniels
Miranda Daniels 1874 – 1948
James Daniels 1877 – 1954
Ocolia A. "Oca" Daniels 1881 – 1963
Charles "Charley" Daniels 1882 – 1964
Lonzo "Lon" Daniels 1885 – 1966
Lillian Rose Daniels 1887 – 1967
Byrd Daniels 1889 – 1955

The Daniels family lived and farmed in the Pure Air community south of Novinger, Missouri, in Adair County. Old Bill died in 1921 and Amanda died in 1925. Both are buried at Pratt Cemetery. - Written by Blytha (Dennis) Ellis whose husband Donald Ervin Ellis is the great great nephew of Lucinda (Beets) Daniels.
