Jim Barton, 87, of 325 First St., Phillips, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at North Plains Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ed Brown & Sons Chapel of the Fountains. The Rev. A.J. Holster, pastor of the Collegeview Baptist Church, will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. Jack Ellzey, pastor of Phillips United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Barton was born at Montgomery, Ala., and had lived in Phillips since 1945. He was a retired mechanical maintenance superintendent for the Phillips Petroleum Co. at the Rice plant.

Surviving are his wife, Perle; a son, Bill of Phillips; a brother, Kellis of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are Jack Winters, O.R. Carpenter, D. Russel Weston, Walter Meyer, S.L. McClellan, L.E. Cates, Ernest E. Hatfield, Frank Markel and Donald Time.
