- In Loving Memory of HAROLD ROTTACKER -
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ethel (Rocky) Rottacker, and others
He also leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Viola Reiswig of Lodi, California, Abby Konschuh of Kelowna, and brothers Henry of Vernon and Manuel of Victoria.
Harold at an early age, moved with his family to Vernon area and started logging with horses near Lumby with his brothers. While working there, he met Ethel Thompson, and they were married in July 1934. They farmed in the area until Harold took an interest in mining and during the war years prospected in Bralorne-Bridge River area, as well as co-discovering the Pinchi Lake Mercury Mine near Fort St James in 1940. During a re-visit to Wells, BC, Harold started placer mining in the area near Stanley and Beaver Pass. The family worked the mine in the summer months and Harold worked in the logging industry in winter months. They settled in the Clearwater area in 1959 and started a hobby farm, while Harold logged for Archibald Sawmills and Clearwater Timber Products. He retired from logging in 1975 and spent his spare time fishing the area lakes. (Times Newspaper Dec 1988)
