Mr. Brooks was born in DeKalb county, Alabama, on March 18, 1929, to William Perry and Vada Elizabeth Callaham Brooks. He was a member of Lathamville Baptist Church for 57 years. Junior married Marie Cutchen and they had been married for 57 years. Together they raised five daughters. Junior owned and operated Brooks Cleaners for over 40 years. Along with Marie and daughter, Donna, they began King Arthur Clock and Jewelry which is in its 25th year of business. Junior lived a fulfilled a life with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family was the joy of his life. He was always his happiest when surrounded by his large family, with laughter abundant and peace in his heart. We now celebrate his life. Praise be to God from whom all blessings flow.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at McRae chapel with Bro. Kevin Brooks, Chris Watkins, and Scott Bobo officiating. Burial followed in the Lathamville cemetery. McRae Funeral Home of Boaz in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Chris Watkins, Harvy Brooks, Billy Brooks, Steve Allen, Danny Wade, and Jerry Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Boaz Fire Department, Sherry and the Mill Street Deli Staff, Alacare Home Health, Boaz Discount drugs, King Arthur Family, and Danny Vinson.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Cutchen Brooks of Boaz; daughters and sons-in law, Janice and Don Rogers of Albertville, Paula and Billy Neal of Crossville, Mary and Bobby Perry of Aroney, and Donna and Kenny Smith of Boaz; ten grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Walter and Christine Brooks of Valley Head and Ernest and Emma Brooks of Chattanooga; and sister, Cleo Snow of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Bobbie June Brooks; grandson, Junior Veal; five brothers; and two sisters.
