Sam Shenkman, 100, of Savannah, Georgia, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Dinerman Shenkman.

He is survived by a son, Charles Shenkman, Savannah, Georgia; one grandson, John Shenkman of Savannah, Georgia; one granddaughter, April Cowart (Stephen)of Savannah, Georgia. and two great grandchildren, James and Aaron Bazemore. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Lottie Dinerman Shenkman.

He worked for 36 years as a Car Inspector for the Subway System of New York. He was retired from the City of Savannah, having served as a supervisor in the Water Department. He had formerly served in the US Army National Guard. He was a member of Landrum Lodge # 48, F. & A.M's, and an Honorary Member of Zerubabel Lodge # 15, F. & A.M's, the Scottish Rite Consistory – Valley of Savannah, and was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Carnival Unit of Alee Temple. He was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim Synagogue.

Services were entrusted to Fairhaven Funeral Home of Garden City, Georgia.
