Blaine Sheppard Dies Today After Extended Illness

A. Blaine Sheppard, 36, of 1102 37th St., former manager of the Ann St. Kroger Store until his recent illness, died early this morning at the St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born August 3, 1921 in Wirt County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Sheppard of Vienna.

He had been associated with the Kroger Company for 15 years and had been employed at the Dudley Ave. and St. Marys Ave. stores. From 1948 to 1953 he was the manager of the West Union Kroger Store and later returned to Parkersburg where he managed the Ann St. store until his retirement in 1955 due to ill health.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A. F. and A.M. No. 56 of West Union and a member of the Order of Eastern Star of West Union. He was also a member of the Beechwood Heights Church of Christ.

Survivors include is parents; his wife, Mrs. Delores Sheppard; two daughters, Judy and Becky, and a son, John, all at home; six brothers, Bruce of Gauley Bridge, W.Va., Paul M. of Parkersburg, Lloyd of Norfolk, Va., and A. H. and T. S. Sheppard, both of Vienna, and R. J . Sheppard of Parkersburg; seven sisters, Mrs. Anne Moore, Mrs. Mary Clegg, Mrs. Eva Riggs, and Mrs. Eupha Romine, all of Vienna; Mrs. Roxie Enoch, Cleveland, Mrs. Pearl Peck, Cuyahoga Falls, O., and Mrs. Orva Buck, Pt. Pleasant, W.Va.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home with Evangelist James Butt officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
