Lucy was the daughter of John F. Featherston and Willie Colston Featherston. Her grandfather was John Featherston who fought in the American Revolution serving with Marion's Men.

Lucy was the wife of Cyrus Arledge of Limestone Co., AL. He died on 4 July 1852. Her daughter Willy Caroline Arledge married Josiah Robert Hancock.
Her son was John Fisher Arledge who brought a wagon caravan of families toward Texas. He was the leader and scout for the journey. Setting out in 1853 with the Thompson Family and the Tunstall family, his wife and mother, Lucy Arledge, (his father having died the year before on 4 July, 1852.) Probably some slaves completed the group.
