DOWNIEVILLE SOLDIER DIES IN VIET NAM
Downieville, Sierra Co., - Army Pfc. Myron McClelland, a graduate of Downieville High School, has been killed in Viet Nam while serving with the 1st Cavalry.
McClelland, a native of Loyalton, Sierra County, moved to Downieville in 1954 staying with Mr and Mrs. Tom Harbert.
He graduated from the high school here in 1961. Summers he worked for Tahoe National Forest and at Cal Ida.
Surviving are a brother, Owen who is with the Army in Germany and his father, Melvin McClelland, in Reno, Nev.
A military funeral will be held in Downieville. The time has not yet been set.

MILITARY RITES ARE SET SATURDAY IN PORTOLA FOR VIET WAR SOLDIER
Portola, Plumas co., - a military funeral will be held at 2p.m. Saturday in Community Baptist Church for Pfc, Myron McClelland who was killed in combat in Viet Nam while serving with the 1st Cavalry Division.
The service will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Gwin. The casket will be escorted by S. Sgt. Bernard Echt.
McClelland was born in Loyalton June 19, 1941, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin McClelland. He moved with his parents to the Stewart Indian Reservation near Carson City, Nev., and to Downieville in 1954, staying with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harbert where he was graduated from high school in 1961.
He joined the Army Signal Corps and trained at Ft. Benning, GA. He would have been separated from duty April 1. Survivors include the father, of Reno, Nev., and a brother, Owen of the Stewart Indian Reservations. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Loyalton beside his mother.
