She was a lifetime area resident and was a retired school teacher from Lexington District One. She was a faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Newberry College. She was also involved in many different organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Helping Hands, and the Widows Auxiliary at her church.

She was the widow of Theodore H. Jumper and the daughter of the late Daniel and Lynnie Clark Redmond. Surviving are her daughters, Janis Daugherty of Columbia, and Don Daugherty of Sumter, and Susan Jumper of Swansea; son, Philip Jumper and his wife, Brenda of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Katherine Jumper, Donny Daugherty, Michael Jumper, Erin Daugherty, Trey Skinner, Jessica Skinner and Ted Skinner; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Katie Lou Adkins of Swansea, and Edith Garthoff of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pringle Redmond and Clark "Buster" Redmond.
