Egyptian Pharaoh. With a reign dating between 2375 BC and 2345 BC, he was the last ruler of Egypt's Fifth Dynasty. He built a pyramid and funerary temple at Saqqara, both decorated with fine relief sculptures. The most important feature of his burial is that he was the first Pharaoh to decorate his tomb with the famous "Pyramid Texts", a series of spells and verses intended to aid the deceased's journey through the underworld. It is believed that the transition to the Sixth Dynasty at the end of his reign was peaceful, as many of his officials were able to continue their careers under his successors.
