Adams, Granger, September 1852 born in New York, son of Orlando and Emily Adams; 1860 and 1870 living at Williamson, N. Y. June 15, 1876 graduated from West Point (17/48) and appointed 2ndlt., 5th U. S. Artillery Rgt. 1880 at Fortress Monroe, Va. March 30, 1884 1stlt. Oct. 4, 1889-Oct. 4, 1893 regimental quartermaster; 1893-1895 professor of military science at St. Johns University in New York City; 1895-1900 with Tactical Department at West Point; Sept. 19, 1898 capt., 7th U. S. Artillery Rgt. Feb. 2, 1901 transferred to Artillery Corps; 1903-1904 in Cuba; 1907-1909 in Philippine Islands; 1910 at Washington, D. C. 1910-1911 president of field artillery board; 1911-1916 commanded 5th Field Artillery Rgt. 1916 briggen. and retired; 1920 living at Front Royal, Va. March 26, 1928 died in Virginia and buried at West Point; 1935-1946 a battery at Ft. Ruger, Oahu, Hawaii named in his honor.
