"Phelps, N. Y. - The funeral of Irving Beard, a resident of this town who died about midnight Saturday morning at the Clifton Springs Sanitarium, was held at two o'clock this afternoon at the family home three miles northeast of Phelps, Rev. R. H. Crane, pastor of the Phelps Baptist church, officiating. Interment was made in Rest Haven cemetery, Phelps. Mr. Beard's death followed an illness of about one week and he was taken to the hospital only a few hours previous to his death. The deceased was 49 years of age, was born in Phelps June 7th 1873, and had spent his entire life in this community where he engaged in farming. Surviving relatives are his wife; and one daughter, Miss Doris; two sisters, Mrs. B. H. Woolson, and Mrs. E. J. Champion; and one brother, James Beard, all of Phelps."
