Funeral services for Joan Arlee Gates Knorr, 74, of Rosenberg, are noon Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1513 West St. in Rosenberg, with the Rev. Dr. Dale Staggemeier officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg.

Joan was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Somerset, to Benjamin Gates and Zuleka Nations Gates. She passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Fredericksburg. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Rosenberg, a lifetime member of both the Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo Association and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Bar-B-Que Committee, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 429.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Knorr; brothers: Harlan Gates, Richard "Dick" Gates and Jack Gates; father-in-law, Richard Paul
Knorr, and mother-in-law, Wilhelmina "Mini" Knorr.

Survivors include daughter, Kristin Rathburn; stepson, Kirk Knorr and wife, Tricia; grandson, Garrett Rathburn; granddaughter, Carmen Rathburn; brother, Gerald Gates; sisters: Fern Maples, Sheryl Foster, Peggy Arp, and Doris
Wright; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lee Ashcraft and family.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Roesler, Kirk Knorr, Temple Ashcraft Jr., Alan Hall, Charles Davis, Wade Ballinger and Donnie Macha.

Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, Inc., 1201 Fourth St. in Rosenberg, 281-342-467
