Jane was the daughter of Richard and Jane Jeane Grooms Bartleson of Salem, NJ. She was married on Sept 25, 1787 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC to Jacob Kanatzar. From this union were born eight known children: William Bartleson, unnamed son, Mary Polly Magee, Jesse, James Wilbur, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hanks, Jacob Balthazar and Richmond. Jane died of cholera. The slaves attended the afflicted because they were less susceptable to get the disease. When she died, they rolled her up in her featherbed and buried her in it.
