Thrilling and admiring social assemblage here Monday afternoon, Beatrice Brody, gifted American contralto, carried her thrilled listeners to heights of joy, as the artist entertaining 200 musically conscious women, following the annual luncheon of the Monday Musical club.

This society highlight of the year for the club and its guests, was extended in the Ironical garden of the Hotel Whitcomb in St. Joseph.

A native of Michigan, the brilliant singer's appearance here was lent more personal interest by the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph members of the club and their guests when they learned this fact. She was educated at Michigan State College, graduating with high honor in 1932, and was prominent socially and musically on the East Lansing college campus. She is not only an accomplished singer, but a well schooled pianist, and an excellent musician in every since of the word.

Charming in appearance, also, the contralto artist captivated everyone with her gracious stage presence – making immediate contact with her audience. The young singer possesses poise and personality, and made a decidedly happy impression on the large group here yesterday.

The progress of the singer in the front ranks of Michigan vocalists has been phenomenal. She has appeared three times with the Detroit Symphony Concert orchestra; twice with the Ypsilanti Symphony and also with the Lansing Symphony; has been guest soloist with the Music clubs of Detroit, Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, and other cities in Michigan; has been contralto soloist during summer seasons at the Bay View Assembly, has sung in the oratorio, "The Messiah," in Detroit, and is developing an operatic repertoire.
