Jacob Allbright married his fourth cousin Sarah, daughter of Stephen Box and Keziah Allbright.

Jacob founded the town of Alabama, Texas and was the first County clerk of Houston County, Texas. Jacob was one of the first (Board of Trustees) members to Trinity College founded in Alabama in 1841.

Their is no headstone marking his grave.

West of Porter Springs on FM Road about 7 miles, near entrance of the Potter Ranch, at the site of
AL Ferry, a short distance from the farm. Jacob Allbright is considered founder of Old AL and his grave is said to be in sight of the present Potter farm. The Cemetery, originally Alabama Ferry, now iscalled by many, the Chandler Cemetery, and contains many graves but few are marked.

Jacob Albright b. 1807 married Sarah S. Box and settled in Houston County, TX, where they reared seven children. The following listed in a History of Houston County by A. A. Aldrich:

"This pioneer was here before Houston County was erected or organized. In fact he was one
of the organizers and was elected the first County Clerk of the County, in Sept. 1837 and held
the office more than one term. He later filled the office of Notary Public and Tax Assessor and
Collector. His father, John Allbright, was also a pioneer and brought a large family with him to
TX, in the thirties. His father met a tragic death, soon after his arrival in TX, at the hands of the
Indians. Jacob was one of ten children of John Albright, Sr. His brothers were: Edward, William,
Solomon, and John, Jr. His sisters were Sarah Strand, Margaret Ware, Mary Long, Nancy Long,
and Catherine Kirchoffer. Jacob Albright settled on a bluff, on the east bank of the Trinity River
and established and conducted a ferry and did a warehouse and commercial business there. Trinity
College was located there and he was one of the trustees, composed of the most notable pioneers of
that day. The history of Trinity College is given elsewhere in this history. Jacob Albright lived and
died at AL and his grave is in sight of his old home."

Jacob Allbright lived and died in the Alabama Community and his grave is in sight of his old home.
