Solomon's surname was spelled Geron, Geren and Gerron. The descendants used both surnames Geron and Gerron, but mostly Gerron in later years. He married Eleanor Ellen Owens(Owings) on December 25, 1785, in Burke County, NC. They had 11 children. His parents were Joseph Guerin(Gerean) & Marie Angelique Barbeau. Solomon served several tours in the Revolutionary War, enlisting in 1777 and serving during the following approximately 5 years. He was wounded once and another time was a prisoner of the Tories. During this time, he was a resident of an area of Western North Carolina, which later became a part of the new state of Tennessee. Solomon and Ellen received his veteran's pension benefits. His trade was a "plant and stock farmer" and was a "simple man".
