The Wellington Leader October 5, 1972

J.A. Killian, 84, prominent retired farmer and a resident of this area for 63 years, died in Collingsworth General Hospital at 10:20 a.m. Friday, September 29. Born September 23, 1888, in Arkansas, James Abner Killian came with his parents to Texas while still quite small, and to the Loco communtiy in 1909, where he established himself as a farmer and leader in its community and religious life. He was married to Miss Ida Bell Crawley on December 29, 1912, and she joined him in his activities. In 1923, they moved to their farm at Fresno. Mr. Killian was especially active in the Methodist Church at Fresno, for many years serving as Sunday School superintendent and teacher. He worked untiringly for strong rural schools, and served the Fresno School as trustee many years.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ida Killian; one son, J.B. Killian of Wellington; four grandchildren, Dr. Granvel Killian of Hollis; Mrs. J.C. Saunders of Follett, Gary Killian and Mark Killian. There are four great grandchildren.
