He was born in Springfield, IL on June 7, 1924, to Charles Dickson and Anna Poloney. He married Henrietta Hillen on June 17, 1961, in Springfield, IL; she preceded him in death on December 3, 1986.
Ben worked as a bricklayer for over 30 years and later worked for the Secretary of State in yard maintenance. Ben was an avid outdoors man that loved his family and to fish. Ben had a great view of life that brought joy to all around him and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his son, Brian and his wife Debbie Dickson of Springfield; his grandson, Tyler Dickson of Springfield; and his two half sisters.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Russell Dickson, Bernard Dickson; and a half brother, Charles Dickson.
Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, is in charge of the arrangements. Private family services will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery on February 26, 2010.
