Daughter of Dudley and Seba (Burney) Tuttle, the fourth of nine children.
Wilmatta attended Friend Public School and graduated with the Class of 1941. On December 21, 1941, Wilmetta was united in marriage to Harold Engel.

Together they made their home on a farm south of Friend and raised a son, Ronald Drake. Later, Harold and Wilmetta moved into Friend and Wilmetta worked as a nurse aid and in central supply at Warren Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She was a member of the Friend Christian Assembly and involved in the ladies ministry, as well as canning food to be sent to foreign countries for missionaries. She also served as Mission Secretary for many years, writing hundreds of letters to foreign missionaries. Wilmetta taught Sunday School, and ultimately was well-known and respected as a woman who knew how to pray. In her spare time, Wilmetta enjoyed piecing quilts and embroidery. She was famous for her homemade jelly which she shared with family and friends.

Wilmetta is survived by her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Drake, Friend, grandchildren Doug Drake and Rhonda Drake, both of Chicago, IL, sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Mortenson, Springfield, MO, Maxine and Rev. Henry Jauhiaien, Duluth, MN, Joyce Shacklett, Fort Collins, CO, brothers and sister-in-law, Donald Tuttle, Friend, Keith and Cathy Tuttle, Beloit, WI, sister-in-law, Dorothy Tuttle, Friend, numerous nieces and nephews, Charles and Ronnie Eigsti, Betty Detweiler, Gary and David Tuttle, Carol Hanson, Martha Synhorst, Dudley, Eddie and Marvin Tuttle, Jilla McCullough, Marc, Eric, Brian and Peter Jauhiainen, John, Phil and Tom Tuttle, Gale Risdall, Jim, Dan and Michael Lee, Joy Lehnert and many great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, son, Ronald Drake, sisters, Edith Tuttle and Neva Eigsti, brother, Carl Tuttle, sister-in-law, Geraldine Tuttle, brothers-in-law, Larry Shacklett, Swede Mortenson
