DEATH OF FRANK PIERCE

Frank Pierce died at the home of his brother, George Pierce, in this city Monday evening, October 6th, about 11 o'clock, after a brief illness with paralysis. He suffered a stroke Saturday evening about 6 o'clock and never recovered consciousness. Mr. Pierce was a man of more than ordinary health and physique and never knew what it was to be sick until he suffered the fatal stroke. He was the youngest of three sons of Hon. George T. Pierce, of Ulster county New York, who was one of the prominent figures in New York state in his day and a member of the New York assembly and senate for several years. The deceased came to Kansas in 1870, locating in Linn county. He never married and spent his time going from place to place looking after his several property interests in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas City and Linn county, Kansas. About fifteen years ago he and his brother George R. Pierce, who is now employed by C. S. Lanphere here, owned a feed store. Mr. Pierce was born in Ulster county, New York, April 3, 1854, and was 59 years, 6 months and 3 days old at the time of his death. The remains were taken to Goodrich yesterday morning for burial. A brother, Jack Pierce, and daughter, Maggie, of Wichita, Otis Pierce of Kansas City and Chas. Pierce, of Linn county, both nephews, were here for the funeral.
