Thomas served as a Corporal on B-24 #42-78418, 744th Bomber Squadron, 456th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Phillips County, Montana prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 23, 1944 at Fort Douglas, Utah. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Carpenter and also as Married.

Thomas was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, while returning from a mission, crashed on a hillside near M. Deir Corvi, Italy during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
