Mr. Blundell passed away on Wednesday, Jan, 27, 2010, at ETMC in Tyler.
He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Smith County to Carl and Lola Pearl Cooper Blundell.
He attended Eureka schools then graduated from Bullard High School in 1953. Archie served his country in the U.S. Army and then moved back to Tyler. Mr. Blundell worked for the Richardson Co. in Tyler and for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. before retiring in 1999. Archie served as a lay minister for Avenue Nazarene Church near Bullard. He enjoyed gardening, playing games and his pets (donkeys, fish and dogs, especially his rat terrier "Angel"). Mostly he loved his family and making many memories with them.
Mr. Blundell was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Lee and Velma Horton; sisters-in-law, Mary Blundell and Sue Wellborn; and brother-in-law, Lee Horton Jr.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Blundell of Teaselville; daughter, Paula Rozell and husband Jimmy of Whitehouse; son, Ken Blundell and wife Janie of New Chapel Hill; granddaughters, Katie Rozell and Molly Blundell; brother, Carl Royce Blundell of Tyler; sister-in-law, Jean Horton of Teaselville; brother-in-law, David Wellborn of Longview; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Gary Wellborn, Benny Ray Hood, Robert Hood, Clinton Colston, Aaron Colston, Charlie Horton, Jimmy Mount, Paul Mount, Michael Mount, Tonny Blundell and David Ray Gilleland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Cooper, Bryan Mount, Robert Earl Williams, Terry Cooper, Johnny Christie, Gerald Cooper, Ronnie Cooper, David Clymore, Dale Acker, David Wellborn and Scott Gilleland.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75703.
