She was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Montgomery County, Md. She was a daughter of the late Lorenzo Lee "Doc" and Maude Moyer Smith, and a foster daughter to the late Perry and Ella Moyer Lantz.
She was a member of Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway. She attended Blue Ridge Community College, James Madison University and Mary Baldwin College. She worked for Western State Hospital, the Daily News-Record and retired from Rockingham Memorial Hospital as a mental health technician.
On Aug. 30, 1949, she married her husband, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, one sister, one sister-in-law, several foster brothers and sisters; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent M. Smith.
Dr. Owen Stultz will conduct a funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren.
Burial will be in the Linville Creek Cemetery
