Mollie was the wife of James Brice and the daughter of Emma Barker, a slave of A. H. Cardin. When Mr Cardin bought Emma, he let her bring Mollie with her as Mollie was just a baby. Emma worked for the Cardin family until she lost her sight. Once she was blind she was put in the county home. She remained there until her death at 102 yrs old when she died in 1920.

Mollie's father is unknown. Mollie and Jim had 2 daughters, Clara lived in Chicago and Bessie lived in Evansville.

She worked for my Grandma for so many years. She was, I guess you could say my Daddy's Nanny plus working the store, cooking and etc.

As she got older she stayed with us at home and helped Mama cook and watch me and Jimmy. She decided as she got much older that she wanted to go spend time with Clara in Chicago. After a few weeks she wanted to come home as she had a premonition she was going to die and she wanted to die at home. She loved our family and we did her so home was with us. She wanted to ride the train one more time so she rode the train to Princeton, KY and we picked her up. She only lived a short time. I was in the 3rd grade.

Mollie and Jim's graves are unmarked now as the fence was removed but I know about where the graves are.

The main thing she is in our hearts and part of our family.
